The Noman Way - J. T. McIntosh

Here's a nice find. An interstellar agent is sent to check out possible corruption on a wealthy planet whose life revolves around participation in dangerous games, for status, income and more. Such as a drop from the sky using repulsor trios to land, swimming an obsctacle course under burning water, getting out of a seat with a poison knife, walking a high wall in a wind, etc. Several million people a month die in these events, including many tourists who come to participate. When several UOF agents perish as well interest is heightened as to what is going on and what the real population of Noman is. The man on the ground is sent another agent to help, one he has worked with before and a woman that is also another talented telepath. The other odd feature of Noman is that they appear to have no telepaths and all the adults are anti-telepaths. An interesting book thanks to Prologue. 3.5 out of 5
