Red Jacket - Michael Canfield

Firstly. A superhero story set in...wait for it...New York City. Here's some No-Doze to keep you awake.

Apart from that piece of incredible boringness it was solid. Canfield knows what he is doing. No surprise this is pretty good given some good work in the genre previously.

The top heroes of the place are off to another dimension to fight Shadow Demons leaving a handful of second-stringers to look after the joint.

Including the protege of their leader. He would be the titular hero. And the titular hero is a low rent Luke Cage. Has barely the strength of 5 men and only rhino hard skin. And so low rent he can't afford super friends. Does rate a reporter girlfriend and the loan of a motorbike though.

Needless to say, an evil supervillain seemingly obsessed with Red Jacket strikes, terminally. Up to the working class hero to do something about it until the boss returns.
