2 in 1 Thrillers - Mainak Dhar

An interesting science fiction double - a near future history and an alternate history of possible different conflicts in Asia featuring India.

2 in 1 Thrillers : Line of Control - Mainak Dhar
2 in 1 Thrillers : Hindustan - Mainak Dhar

Line of Control refers to the disputed point in Kashmir.

This is a military thriller set just beyond tomorrow. A fundamentalist with delusions of grandeur has taken control in Saudia Arabia and is setting out to, as usual, do something about the Western Great Satan. This time with the help of the Pakistani ruler and military and a bunch of mercenaries.

They decide to make an incursion, which turns into a three force war with the ever present threat of a local nuclear exchange.

India has one ace up their sleeve - a spy inserted at a very high level in the Pakistani military apparatus.

It shows the decisions taken by the leadership on each side, as well as the roles played by an intrepid reporter and her correspondent, a fighter pilot and a tank commander.

This was very good. So Dhar can write zombie stories, military thrillers and has sf and fantasy books too - which I will definitely check out.

A Mughal empire alternate history - if a battle with the British had gone another way.

And wartime it is, of a different sort, as an intrepid young warrior a woman and his nebulous foreign friend see what they can do to move things the right way.
