A computer prediction suggests the planet Lurion will become aggressive enough with the next 67 years to get Earth embroiled in a war - once that is extremely likely to destroy the planet.
How to fix this? Destroy Lurion first. This requires sending five spies there at staggered intervals with devices to activate a planet killer weapon. Problem there is some of them have to wait months while the others get opportunity to land of a planet with few humans.
After being there some time and gaining a girlfriend - who would die when the weapon was set off - the lead agent discovers a growing band of locals who oppose the conservatives in power. A factor he doesn't think his Security Agency masters took into account before the planet kill determination.
