A group of cop types that get called on when there is something weird to be investigated realise their latest suicide that looks like a murder is that strange - so off they go. Then it is strange enough that they decide they need an elderly crazy psychic expert to help one. One that is in an asylum and has put quite a few of the people there in the hospital and the morgue. Shades of the Stross Laundry series, although some of the members of this team are of the Dirty Dozen variety - criminals given the standard two choices.
