The Year's Best Science Fiction 04th Annual Collection - Gardner Dozois

This is the worst of the Dozos series that I have yet rated. Not particularly surprising, as eighties science fiction is absolutely inferior to nineties and noughties, there is no doubt about that.

This book is a good example, with more than one example of fantasy and many tending towards the mainstream sort of piece included, and very few of the 'centre core' examples. Even the first and best story by Shepard moves in that direction.

The average here is only 3.44, which is very weak compared to the usual not quite 3.80.
